1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Autism Scout ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Autism Scout is an AI-powered informational and emotional support tool designed to assist parents and caregivers navigating autism-related challenges. The Service provides:
- Educational information about autism, therapies, and resources
- Emotional support and guidance for parents and caregivers
- Access to curated resources and referrals
- General information about navigating autism services
Important: Autism Scout is NOT a substitute for professional medical, therapeutic, psychological, or crisis intervention services.
3. Medical Disclaimer
Autism Scout does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The information provided through the Service is for informational and educational purposes only. It should not be used as a substitute for:
- Professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- Therapy or clinical intervention
- Emergency or crisis services
- Legal or official guidance regarding special education rights
Always seek the advice of your physician, therapist, or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical or psychological condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information provided by Autism Scout.
If you or your child are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
4. User Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service. By using Autism Scout, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age.
5. User Account and Subscription
5.1 Account Creation
To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
5.2 Subscription Terms
Autism Scout operates on a subscription basis at $4.97 per month.
- Free Trial: New users may receive a limited number of free messages before subscription is required
- Billing: Subscription fees are billed monthly and automatically renew unless canceled
- Payment: Payment is processed securely through Stripe
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
- Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial months of service
Beta Pricing Notice: Early adopters during our beta phase may be grandfathered at their initial subscription rate even if pricing changes in the future.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Autism Scout only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Share your account credentials with others
7. Privacy and Data
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Autism Scout, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
Conversation Data:
- Your conversations with Autism Scout are stored to provide continuity of service
- We use OpenAI's GPT-4 API to power the AI responses
- Conversations may be reviewed for quality assurance and service improvement
- We do not sell or share your personal conversations with third parties
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Autism Scout and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service
- Use our branding, logos, or trademarks without permission
- Reproduce or redistribute content from the Service
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
Autism Scout, its creators, operators, and affiliates SHALL NOT be liable for: any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use; any damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service; any damages resulting from reliance on information provided by the Service; any damages arising from your interactions with healthcare providers, schools, or other third parties based on information from the Service.
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Autism Scout, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from: your use of the Service; your violation of these Terms; your violation of any rights of another person or entity.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason
- Refuse service to anyone for any reason
- Modify or discontinue the Service at any time
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by:
- Posting the new Terms on this page
- Updating the "Last updated" date
- Sending an email notification (if we have your email)
Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. You waive your right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
